Harlow colour

Just over a week ago we were at RHS Wisley in Surrey, the weather was like summer and there was little Autumn colour. Today with no Pilates and my friend away Chris and I decided to visit RHS Harlow Carr near Harrogate.

More autumnal colour and lots of other seasonal features like fungi amongst the woodland walks today. Not surprising really as we’ve had a rapid change in temperatures and Harlow Carr is a higher and more northerly location for the RHS to trial the types of plants that will grow well here.

There were still lots of flowers in the borders but I’ve chosen this for blip as I like the shapes as well as the colours.

We were there in time for coffee in Betty’s without any queuing before taking a walk around including a long walk through the woodland area which we often miss out. Couldn’t miss out the crafts in the Bath house and the shop before joining the queue for lunch.

The sun was out by this time and with barely any wind today it wasn’t unpleasant waiting the short while in the queue. The prices have gone up but there’s nothing like a Betty’s sandwich!

The wind has got up a bit since getting home, think today may literally have been the calm before Storm Babet tomorrow. Unfortunately we’ll probably be driving SW in it!

Just got the car back seems like my bargain was the cooker yesterday!
