Field trip 1

Only mad dogs ( and we encountered a few) and Englishwomen would have gone off on a field trip in the midst of Storm Babette.  Fortunately we were heading for North Cork rather than Cork city and poor East Cork which has received a battering. We packed waterproofs and spare jeans and had a slow, damp but uneventful journey upwards. This murky and exceptionally muddy patch - Himself was the only one brave enough to venture through the ford - is called The City of Shrone and is considered to be the oldest religious site in Ireland which is still active.  Just us and the sheep today. Our Lady of the Wayside and baby Jesus were freshly painted and beyond is the wellkeeper's cottage.
