Goldcrest...

... In a whole tree full of goldcrests, what a delightful surprise! They are sweet little birds and we rarely see them at home. This was the final capture of our holiday.
We are now safely home.
What a change from last week. We set off for our annuals in heavy rain. (I'd been checking Storm Babet warnings because we were going to stay in Northumberland and there were heavy rain alerts). When we set off it was safe enough to travel... However, it is a long way from us to there!
And, as we drove through increasingly scarier flood after flood, it became obvious that (a bit like Pooh Bear) it was equally as worrying to turn back as it was to carry on.
Our holiday accommodation was on a river bank.
When we arrived there the river was on red flood alert and was a raging torrent, I've never seen the like. We parked on a hill, away from the property and carried all of our belongings in and upstairs.
The wind blew a hooley all night. The next morning we could see how high (and close to the property) the river had risen.
Of course, we should never have set off. Famous last words.
However, the next day the storm (for us) had abated and the sun shone.
We had a lovely (much welcomed) break.

And now we're home.
The wine forecast is 'really? Are you sure? There's lots of washing you know'.

Happy Friday one and all.
