Fog …

… greeted us when we opened the bedroom curtains this morning and it stayed for most of the day.  That didn’t stop the lads getting on with the window installation.  Today they’ve done the window in our ensuite, the main bathroom windows and the main window in the bay window in the lounge.  Tomorrow they’ll finish the bay window in the lounge, do the two windows in the third bedroom and put the finishing touches to the main bathroom windows and the window in the garden loo downstairs.  That leaves the big ranchslider in the study/living/dining area to be installed on Friday, then the job is complete.

We went out for a walk through the Oamaru Public Gardens (see main blip), along to Guthrey Bowron to book an appointment for some advice about blinds, then to Mitre10 to browse the garden section for flowers and fruit trees - lots to like and think about.  Our next stop was the glass company that we asked to provide a quote for the “difficult” windows.  Since doing that we’ve talked about the windows a lot and have changed our minds about the way to approach them.  The company that is currently doing the double glazing will quote for the three stained glass windows and the French door.  The glass company will quote to double-glaze the lovely wooden windows in the second bedroom.  We don’t mind if the work isn’t done until next year, just so long as it’s done by the autumn.

We went to Rotary this evening and it was fun.  Various members donated items to be auctioned to raise funds - MrMacD donated one of his paintings - and two of the members conducted the auction.  Somehow I managed to bid for a 20-minute flight for the two of us and a voucher for the café where the meeting is held every fortnight.  Oh well, it was all in a good cause.

The magnificent tree in yesterday’s blip is a copper beech.

This morning there were dewy cobwebs on top of the box hedge and when we were out walking a rather clever sign outside one of the cafés.  See the extra.
