It was a long day
behind the wheel -  I was so
happy to conclude

We left La Verkin, Utah after breakfast. It was another beautiful day with warm temperatures and sunny skies.

Most of our trip was on Interstate 15 heading south. We had to skirt around the side of Las Vegas, Nevada. After the hectic city traffic we were out onto many miles of 'empty' land - long lines of high tension lines ( cities like Las Vegas use a lot of power), acre upon acre of Joshua trees and yucca and ridges of mountains stretched across the landscape.

Nevada is known for its casinos and gambling. Even a restaurant or a gas station can house gambling machines.

The only rest stop on our route today was out of commission. This is quite a new one but for some reason it was closed to the public. Instead, portable toilets were lined up along one side of the parking area with sink/water/paper towels nearby. The portable toilets were in disgusting shape and most of the sinks had no water left for washing hands. Meanwhile, one man cleaned the cement around the rest stop with a power washer.

We pulled up at our hotel in Bullhead City, Arizona an hour before check-in so we waited in the car in the shade. Little birds darted in and out of the shrubbery keeping us entertained.

It feels like summer now so we'll have to dig out some cooler clothes for tomorrow.
