Flag Day

Flag Day goes back to June 14, 1777. That's when the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution stating that "the flag of the United States be 13 stripes ( representing the original colonies), alternate red and white" and that "the union be 13 stars (the number of states), white in a blue field, representing a new constellation."

Red symbolizes hardiness and valor; white symbolizes purity and innocence; blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice.
