Flash fun

I'm due to take some photos at a local awards event next week. It's in a venue with black walls and unflattering ceiling spotlights, among other challenges. So some extra lighting will be needed, and bouncing a flash off the ceiling - which fortunately is not black! - is one option. People will be moving around, so fixed lighting isn't on the cards. And I don't have that kind of equipment anyway.
So it's time for some practice with the flash gun. One of the orchids currently flowering on my study windowsill was today's practice subject, since it's Flower Friday... tomorrow I hope that Richard will put up with doing a  bit of modelling for me.
