Morning through my window

It's been another very wet day. The morning view of the valley was largely (and quite attractively) obscured by horizontal drifts of rain, and the beautiful golds of the shrub outside the rain-smeared window have created an impressionistic blur of golds and greens.

J slept peacefully till quarter past nine, which is unusual, and had woken only once in the night, so I woke refreshed and cheerful from the longest unbroken sleep for some time. We started slowly and brunched on P's flat bread crumpets (his hybrid between a crumpet and an English muffin) which go beautifully with poached farm eggs. J wanted to catch up with the rest of Children in Need on i-Player, I did some kitchen jobs and, when the rain eased around three, fitted in a brisk walk up the hill before helping her with her daily cycling and starting a little sewing project. An unexciting but pleasant and positive day (and it's good to know the chalk aquifers which supply most of Kent's water are being well replenished this autumn).

Yesterday's photos are still to follow - it was a beautiful day, so I took a lot on my walk and have not been through them properly yet.
