Jubilee Walk

Basil and I took Cecily all the way up to the old railway line now renamed
Jubilee Walk and bought by the Town Council as an amenity for Shepshed. It is crammed between the Conway Road estate and the cemetery on one side and what was agricultural land but is now cleared for Persimmon housing on the other. How I hate that company. See extra. Fortunately someone had spotted that the land on which the railway track runs was up for sale and the town council moved in to buy it or else it could also have been snapped up by the housing developer.

The last time I was here must have been in 2019 when crops were being grown in the fields to the south.

Even greyer and darker than yesterday it seemed. The trees on each side of the walk don't have the colour of the woodland but bright yellow alder shines through.

The old canal trench runs alongside the railway line. Carol told me that a few weeks ago, after Storm Babet, it had begun to fill again. I bet that caused a headache for Persimmon.
