Gnarly

One of today's errands took me to the village of Frauenstein with its (allegedly) 1000-years-old Dorflinde. I have blipped this ancient lime tree before.

It is very old and tired, and its branches are being held up with huge crutches, like some Salvador Dalí figures. But it's alive, and though it might not be 1000 years old, it could well be 800. It has been documented as an already established court linden tree in 1413, which makes it one of the oldest trees in our state.

Otherwise, a difficult day. P  is struggling with low back pain, and I am struggling with world news. What's wrong with people, why are they  voting for right-wing-populist, nationalist, racist, autocratic, patriarchic, climate-denying, and just generally toxic old white men? Even in our neighbouring Netherlands. I don't get it.
