Frosty Leaf

A very cold start to the  morning here, there was quite a frost covering the cars and the ground. There were a couple of blue tits pecking at the ice on the bird bath so I had to go out to smash the ice so that they could get a drink!

If you have ever wondered what happens to folk who are sentenced to “community service” by the courts…well wonder no more! On my walk today I came across a “Community Payback” van parked by the cycle/footpath (see extra) and a little further on a group of ‘labourers’ clearing the overgrown edges of the path. A 2 metre wide strip of tarmac had, in places, been reduced to less than a metre of usable path.

I got talking to the leader and basically this organisation (run by the Probation Service) is able to place these folk to work on community projects…and in this case they are clearing the path between the A1/A64 junction and Wetherby, which they will be doing for the next year!!

I have to say they are doing a great job, so hopefully the cyclists will be able to pass us walkers more easily!!
