Frosty!

Very frosty this morning with a chilly 27F/-2.7C temp. The golf course looked like it had a coating of snow on it (well it sort of did!). I went for a good long hike at the arboretum pretty early, well, parked by 9:45 am, and there was a lot of frost there as well. I love seeing the leaves on the ground covered with frost - they become so beautiful laden with ice crystals.

There are still leaves on a few trees - the birches and some of the beech trees.

I met my former sister-in-law (we call each other sisters since we share the last name) for lunch today. We had a nice catch up at her house here in Portland...you might remember that I used to visit her in Santa Fe, but she moved here about a year ago. She's putting an addition on the back of her house which is coming along quite well. Long process though. We had a lovely lunch and walked past roses in full bloom on the way back to her house (extra). More cold weather for the next few days and then it looks like the rain will finally settle in. It's been a stunning fall!
