We Are The Champions

B.A.T.S. were well represented at last nights pantomime themed quiz, held at the Barrel House in Kendal. And - as you might have hoped, given all our knowledge and experience, we finished first and second overall. We won £30 of vouchers between us - only drawback is that they have to be spent in the Barrel House. So it looks like we’re entering next weeks Christmas themed quiz to use them up!
It was a good quiz - nice surroundings and there were just enough “difficult” questions to make it interesting. And, because I wasn’t driving, I allowed myself the indulgence of a rare - for me - pint of beer. Would have been rude not to, as it’s actually brewed on site.
Very little done today though, as temperatures remain around freezing. Also, because I’m such a lightweight these days, the after effects of two pints of beer were making themselves felt. All good intentions of going the gym were abandoned in favour of an extra hour in bed.
In the interests of full disclosure, I should say that our team didn’t actually score the most points in the quiz. But, because the highest scoring team contained employees of Bowness Bay Brewing, they said their entry shouldn’t count as they can’t be seen to be winning vouchers for their own venue!
I can see the reasoning, but you might also say that an Amateur Theatrical group also had a bit of an unfair advantage. Still, a win is a win.
The one question we should have been able to answer - but couldn’t - was “What is Widow Twankey named after”.
Does anyone know - without Googling it?
