Four Left Standing

The regular hospital day, but a very short one. L explained that the results meant that J didn’t need any treatment this week, so we returned home. An unexpected luxury, which we celebrated by making further progress on Christmas card writing.

I had to return to the hospital in the afternoon, to collect a prescription from the hospital pharmacy. Whilst there I went up the hill to Halton castle, to view what remains of the former Fiddlers Ferry power station following the demolition of the four northern cooling towers eleven days ago. No date is set for the demolition of the remaining structures, in the meantime all sense of symmetry is gone. The light was good though - looking east I could for the first time.here clearly see the dishes of the radio telescope at Jodrell Bank, framed by the Pennines.

I returned over the toll bridge and visited Sandy Lane Farm. Fiddlers Ferry stood proud in the landscape (extra). Amazing that a structure this big could be hidden in a blanket of fog from this vantage point on demolition day. A great sunset (because of circumstance the first one I’ve seen this year).
