Gently down the stream

Chaffinch

I'm sure most UK blippers must be finding this weather as frustrating as I do.  I've been out with the camera twice today because the BBC said the sun would be appearing and it never did.  Oh well.  Although I didn't see the kingfisher - or the goldcrests - I did see a lot of small birds, including this male chaffinch up in a hawthorn tree, and a huge flock of goldfinches high in the alder trees, plundering seeds.  While they were feeding it was tricky trying to guess how many there were, but I saw them flying several times and estimated there must be 200 plus.  What a sight!

Have a happy evening  xx
