Dolly's Day

MATCHDAY

Newcastle United had another home match today.  This time it was a Premiership game against Fulham... kick off 3pm.  I caught a bus around 12.15pm so I could get to town early and have a mooch around.

Had a nice wander around but didn't buy much.  One thing I made sure to get was some beer bottle sweets from a little sweet stall in the Grainger market.  Becky likes them so they were on her Christmas list as usual.  In my collage you can see the Christmas tree which is in Eldon Square shopping centre... its a modern one.

Got to the ground around 2.30pm.  The turnstiles only had short queues today. Took a few shots before kick off - Wor Flags put on a good display as usual.  You can also see the two Newcastle mascots ... Monty  Magpie and Maggie Magpie.

Newcastle played really well for the whole match.  However there were no goals scored  in the first half ... but Fulham had a player sent off and two Newcastle players went off injured ( including my favourite player Fabian Schar ) Not long into the second half Newcastle scored their first goal.  The scorer was 17year old Lewis Miley.  He is the youngest Newcastle United player to appear in the Premier League, the youngest to score in the Premier League and the youngest to appear in the Champions League.  He's a local lad and only left school last year ... and he went to the same school as me - Tanfield School in Stanley.  I think he's one to watch in the future.

Newcastle kept up the pressure and got two more goals  - on the 64th minute ( Almiron ) and 82nd minute (Dan  Burn - another local lad ).  A much needed win for The Toon after a few bad results.

Didn't have to wait long for a bus home and was in the house by 6pm.

Watched the Strictly Final whilst eating my meal.  Thought all the finalists did well but I was pleased Ellie was the winner.
