An ordinary life....

Gail's festive fireplace...

Backblip

After yesterday's painful episode I wasn't sure I would make it to lunch at Alan and Gail's today but I felt much better.

It's always such a pleasure to visit them and their beautiful home, especially at Christmas, when their usual warm welcome is accompanied by sparky lights, candles, beautiful decorations and the comforting scent of ginger and spice.  I couldn't resist taking a snap of their fireplace, which really doesn't do it justice.

We had a delicious lunch of homemade lentil and bacon soup and yummy wraps with various fillings.  Coffee and the most delicious Christmas cake rounded it off perfectly.

It was so lovely to catch up with them and we spent a very relaxed afternoon chatting.  They are off on a 6 week trip to New Zealand at the end of January (weirdly the friends we are seeing on Tuesday, Keith and Mairi, are also off to NZ but they leave on 28th December and are away for three months) so I hope to organise a lunch at ours early in the new year to see them before they head off.

Finally had Delia's chicken with lime and coconut for dinner then settled down to watch two episodes of Shetland.

A lovely day that made up for yesterday :-)
