After the Rain

The sun broke through.  I had brought this Crocus veluchensis hybrid into the porch in the hope that the flower might open, warmth and sunshine did the trick with the added reward of the lingering raindrops. This pot was right at the edge of the cold frame where the rain can blow in, the top glass is in place there are openings at the sides.  It's quite similar to the Crocus sublimis I showed the other day, no surprise as that is the other parent in this case.  This flower is twice the size, the corm raised from seed I sowed way back in 2006, that came from a corm of Crocus veluchensis collected in Bulgaria, by a friend in 1996.   Such hybrids do occur in the wild but this one arose in my care.  Extra pic up close without flash.

A morning of chores saw the house much cleaner and tidier.  An afternoon trip to Dolgellau for an appointment for Jamie.  A short evening turn at work - another extra pic - also involved a short train ride, bell ringing and some Hoh Hoh Hohs!
