Father's Day

Went for a lovely Thai buffet to celebrate Father's Day with José, Sandra's dad. It was his and Cynthia's (her mum) time to try it out and they both seemed to really enjoy it. Actually, it was Gaby's (her sister) 1st time eating it too and she was also equally impressed.

Unlike me and buffets normally, I managed to pace myself and taste an awful lot of what they had on offer, rather than gorging on the 1st dish or 2, leaving room for little else. The carpaccio of raw Red Snapper (Huachiningo) in a spicy-lime-soya marinade was especially delicious.

Walked home from the restaurant and passed this cop car seeming to keep a mindful watch over the Soumaya museum in the background. That's one thing about Mexico City (and Polanco in particular) is the high visibility of the police here. There are literally tens of thousands of them patrolling the streets.

Not sure that it makes me feel safer knowing they're all out there!
