That Will Do!

More Nacre!

I could hardly believe my eyes when a brightish dawn resolved into another display of nacreous cloud but, higher in the sky than yesterday's, was much more visible.

Naturally I dashed for the camera (whose battery, frustratingly, was dead) and then the phone as backup, shouted for Mr Flum and sent a WhatsApp message to Miss Flum to look out before it faded away.
Zillions millions quite a few photos were taken between us, again from the back bedroom; we then stood and watched as the display developed in other parts of the sky, ending when the lower, dark cloud obscured the high cloud.

The extra photo should have been taken yesterday, as there were more to show you. The Flumlet was here for the afternoon and we had another try with the marbling kit, gradually improving our technique until a few quite passable results were achieved - but he took four of these home. We had set everything out carefully; newspaper below our subject, latex gloves on, colours set just so with their lids to avoid mixing them up (or tipping them off the table) but what I had forgotten was: Where to put the marbled decoration to dry, as they were sticky with the coloured lacquer.

Cue the sticks collected months ago to add to the Big Twig, which still lives but is in dire need of renovation. The twigs have been sitting in the sunroom awaiting use, some of the twiggy bits were just - and only just - thin enough to pass through the hole in the pre-formed shapes (occasional removal of buds notwithstanding) and here they sat to dry off. I removed them after the photo and two or three are added to our own Christmas tree, now being decorated.

These were made of thin plywood but I also have ceramic and plastic baubles to work on, however they'll have to wait until after Christmas.
