Crappy Christmas

On This Day In History
1914: World War I soldiers celebrate a Christmas truce

Quote Of The Day
"Men, who would drown in mud, be gassed, or shot, or vapourised
by falling shells, or live to tell, heard for the first time then -
Stille Nacht. Heilige Nacht. Alles schlaft, einsam wacht ......

Carried, the song was a bridge from man to man;
a gift to the heart from home,
or childhood, some place shared ......
When it was done, the British soldiers cheered."
(Carol Ann Duffy, The Christmas Truce )

A day of sleeping, coughing, nose blowing, reading and sleeping again. No energy. Nothing tastes nice because of the disgusting taste in my mouth. Hard to celebrate when children are being blown up on a daily basis in the Holy Land. No sign of a Christmas Truce there, and God doesn't give a toss, apparently.

Oh well, at least I will enjoy this Christmas cake that V and K made. Then open presents before going back to bed.
