Elmer - in company

Elmer's nose has saved Blipfoto from more grey pictures of swimming. After another pleasant holiday day of not terribly much (cycling workout, discovering I've got the wrong pedals / cleats combo, trip to one of the supermarkets, "swimming"* with a small group in the afternoon in rather large waves), we went across the road to have dinner with A and N. Excellent veggie curries. Delicious. And while Elmer the rather nervous dog made a big fuss on our arrival, he calmed down quite quickly, and eventually was allowed to come out of his crate and explore around. Inevitably, that meant that like a slightly badly behaved toddler he became the centre of attention for the evening, but for N and A it is such a relief that he is becoming more manageable in company. Previously, they had been very hesitant about having new people round because of the fuss he was making, but working with their dog trainer they've made good progress at giving him the opportunity to live the best dog life he can. He's very affectionate and cuddly. He more rapidly took to Mr A than to me (and I got a great picture of him communing with Mr A that I was not allowed to blip....), but eventually he let me stroke his beautiful silken ears and scratch him behind the head.

A lovely evening with friends. Oh, and it's Dr Elmer Gantry, not Elmer Fudd, by the way. I believe that matters to people in the know.

* No actual swimming was done. We went in up to just above our waists and waited for the rollers crashing in. One of the waves was sufficiently big to soak my hat, so that definitely counts as a dip.
