Canterbury

After an unexpectedly good night's sleep on the Harvey's drive, I was awake at 7, and up and dressed by 7.30. I saw a light on in Neil's office, and he let me in the house, which was lovely and warm.

Jon was close behind me, and our three offspring were awake shortly afterwards. We all had some breakfast, then Mollie and the boys headed home via Norwich. We hugged our goodbyes, and left around 10. Caravan hooked up, we headed for the relatively short journey, just over 2 hours, down the M11, M25, and M2.

We had a break for coffee on the M11 then hit the most horrendous weather. Slowly chugged along with a lot of other traffic, over the Dart crossing (not nice in wind and rain with a caravan). We arrived in Canterbury at 1.20pm, coming out the other side of the weather. At the same time glad to hear mum and Rod had touched down safely at Stansted after their Germany excursion. The weather was far worse for them, and put our journey into perspective.

It didn't take Jon long to set up the caravan, filling the water and getting electricity sorted. I made a cup of tea, then prepared some lunch - gammon salad! Well, it has to be eaten :-)

Then we walked in to Canterbury getting there at dusk. Wandered down the quaint pretty streets, made more special with the Christmas lights. Lots of people about. We stopped for a tea/coffee in a tiny tea shop then wandered back to the site. Good to get a 10000 step day in. Not done that for weeks.

Cooked a turkey curry for dinner. We can't get our TV to work, even with a new aerial, so it looks like it's going to be games reading, and perhaps a go at that wool spinning! Oh, and lots of relaxing. We are warm and cosy, so what more do we need? Going back to Canterbury tomorrow in the day light, then perhaps we will venture further out...
