If you can't beat them...

Homeward bound.

The weather forecast for the day was appalling Kat suggested we get an early start, while she had her fingers crossed that her trains would run.  So by mid-morning, we were packed and rolling, into the gloom and falling rain.  At first, all went OK, but then we started seeing signs telling us the A1 was closed between J52 & J53.   Then signs saying there was a 20 minute delay between J51 & J52.  So we turned off onto more minor roads.  A good decision!  Most of the way we were on a road parallel to the A! and bowling along at 60mph rather than stop start driving.  It was only the last couple of miles before Scotch Corner where things became congested.

We stopped for a late lunch at Mainsgill and I realised I hadn't taken any photos.  I took this shot of the table decorations.   Anybody wondering about the back ground they have extended the seating area into a wood lined marquee.  Clickychick likes this area as it is less crowded and noisy.  It is also very snug, too snug in fact we moved tables to a cooler position.

Well fed we completed the journey in a record breaking 6 hours.  The record being for the slowest we had ever made the journey.
