Mercado Hidalgo

We headed down the hill mid-morning to explore the town. Our landlord had told us Guanajuato is on a slope and we live on the upper side so town was all downhill from our apartment - steeply downhill at the start, then a gradual drop through the historic centro until we reached the Mercado Hidalgo. An amazing building built in 1910, it houses all the typical Mexican market things, fresh fruits, prepared foods, crafts, and home goods, in a very atypical organized fashion. It is quiet too. That might have something to do with the six story high ceiling or maybe people in Guanajuato are more quiet by nature.
