BEAUTIFUL GULL

It's Wide Wednesday and the theme is "Nature."
~
There's not much wider than the blue sky and his wings are spread wide.....and gulls are surely part of nature.  This is a non-breeding Ring-billed Gull (Larus delawarensis); you'll notice the dusky markings on its head.  These are replaced by all white color during the breeding season.

I live about 20-30 miles inland from Lake Michigan in Wisconsin.  Most of the gulls (we have several varieties) spend the bulk of their time near the lake, but in the fall and early winter huge flocks of them may be seen inland following farmer's tractors as they do some plowing.  All sorts of bugs, worms, and mice are turned up in this process and the gulls are there to put on the feed bag.  Even gulls get tired of the same fishy food all year.

Best in Large.
