Spitfire!

We went to an evening event at Brodsworth Hall. Brodsworth is having a series of events called "Brodsworth at War" and this one was a special one for us as they have a replica Spitfire on the grass outside the hall.
In actual fact, as we were told by the man who shows the plane, it is a rebuild rather than a replica...all parts are genuine, although they are from several different planes.

I love this plane, who doesn't? An iconic aircraft, and very important in the war effort back in WWII. Some debate exists as to how much the Spitfire was the deciding point in the war, but even if it wasn't, it served as a morale booster, a focus point for the normal people to keep their minds on winning the war.

Looking forward to seeing the real thing...they are flying one over Brodsworth on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd of June. And then in two weeks time we are off to Waddington Airshow where the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be flying.
