Paddy Life Lessons

A bit of a disastrous day which I felt would be a complete washout, so I, more or less, gave in.

Paddy lay in front of the stove with no inhibitions such as mine; thoughts of laziness and an unhealthy dose of health anxiety. He's almost 16 years old, he has dementia (the happy kind), he's almost completely blind, and his hearing is fading. He still wags his tail, can jump on a bed/sofa, and becomes disproportionately excited by seemingly simple things...
I should try to be a "bit more Paddy".

Eventually, I got out of bed, I opened my book, I passed the day doing not-very-much-but-more-than-nothing.
I even managed a short yoga session which lifted my spirits somewhat.

"The main thing is this — when you get up in the morning you must take your heart in your two hands. You must do this every morning."
