Country Life in the Mountains

We were in no great hurry this morning. We had a leisurely breakfast after showers, packed the car and headed north. Our first stop is always Yoder’s. Today was the first day they had opened since the snowstorm; they had no fresh cakes and pies. I found a fruit cake for my mother and a couple items for next year’s stockings. Hubby bought a jar of jelly and we were on our way. We stopped for lunch in Marion, Va. We really enjoy Macado’s sandwiches. We will eat the second half for dinner. I decided to feature mostly old barns for today’s blip. I love the scenes with mountains in the background. If I ever had to move, it would be to foothills or a mountain valley. Life just seems slower and the people are really friendly. My biggest concern would be their local healthcare system. At our age, we need reputable specialists. The large scene in the middle of the collage was taken at the Claytor Lake Virginia State park. We were scoping it out as a potential camping spot next summer. We were unable to get to the actual camp sites. Maybe they will have photos on line to help with our decision. Otherwise, it has been an uneventful day of traveling. We are about 20 miles from our hotel. I called my sister to tell her about a gift I found for one of her friends if she liked it. She did. But she found out a bit earlier that our mother has terrible COVID symptoms. She was packing to go stay with her. Momma’s COVID test was positive. I am waiting for a call to hear what the doctor recommended. Hopefully, since my sister and I just got over Covid, we will be able to care for Momma and not catch it from her. We think she could have caught it from a friend. I will relieve my sister when she is ready to go home. Hubby and I really enjoyed the time we spent with the kids. I guess our next visit will be in June. Try to stay healthy. COVID is here to haunt us in the foreseeable future. Thanks for stopping by. “I really feel that my body craves to be in the mountains or by the ocean or in the countryside.” – Miranda Kerr.
