Claude Monet …

… is the name of this beautiful rose in our garden with a lovely scent.

There was only one tiler on the job today.  He started laying the tiles but discovered that the floor is a bit “wobbly” so went back to base and returned with some self-levelling compound, which he has poured over the concrete board base.  He has left it to level itself while it dries and will return tomorrow to check it.  It’s disappointing that more progress wasn’t made but that’s just the way it is, I guess.

Meanwhile, A the painter has virtually finished our bedroom, which is great.  He will also come in the morning to do a spot of touching up and take up the masking tape from the floor.

I walked down to the doctor’s surgery to have my hand checked.  The doctor is very pleased with it and the stitches will come out on Monday.  Afterwards I walked to the Collective Café for the usual Friday coffee morning and met MrMacD there.  We walked home afterwards.

After lunch I picked some blackcurrants and a handful of raspberries.  I’ve made jam with the blackcurrants, so we now have frozen, dehydrated and jam to look forward to.  MrMacD did some gardening, and dug up potatoes and carrots.  Afterwards we cooked supper together and used some of the potatoes and carrots from the garden.

It’s been a hot day - 27C - but tomorrow will be even hotter at 29C.

As we sat in the lounge after supper doing Quordle, there was a really interesting light from the setting sun against a very dark sky.  I’m not sure if I captured it properly, but it gives you an idea of what it looked like - see extra.
