Chaos

A the painter turned up, as he always does, at 7:50am, which meant we had to start moving furniture and other things out of the living/dining area into the second bedroom. I also had to tidy up after breakfast, get the dishwasher on and do a load of washing.  S the tiler turned up, but only to tell me that he wasn’t going to be here today as he had an upset tummy and needed to be near a bathroom. I was quite happy for him to go away.  Hopefully he’ll be here tomorrow.  Then T the plumber turned up to remove the toilet and vanity in the ensuite so the tiler had a clear space to lay the underfloor heating and tiles.  I asked him when he might be able to install a water filter cylinder and change the tap in the kitchen and was delighted when he said he could do it straight away.  He didn’t turn off the water until the washing machine had finished but the dishwasher has to be stopped mid-cycle. I managed to get the washing hung out on the line before I had to dash off to the doctor’s surgery to have my stitches removed.  It was certainly a fast walk in a high temperature.

MrMacD spent time assembling the new vanity for the ensuite.  Unfortunately the instructions weren’t clear and two pieces were wrongly numbered, so it took quite a while - definitely not as easy as assembling Ikea cabinets.  It’s now ready to be installed as soon as the tiling in the ensuite is finished.

I decided there was no point in trying to dust or clean windows while all this work in going on.  I’ll do one big clean when everything is finished.

My daughter is still in hospital waiting for the operation on her leg.  She was told if it hadn’t happened by 6pm it wasn’t going to happen today … and it hasn’t.  She hadn’t eaten since 5pm yesterday and was on a drip for fluids.  Her husband brought her a sandwich and ice cream just after 6pm as the food isn’t good, and we have our fingers crossed that she’ll have the operation tomorrow

We had a lot of thunder between 6:30 and 7pm and a few drops of rain, so MrMacD still had to water the garden.  There was a lovely rainbow, though.

Things are a bit frantic at the moment, so I haven’t had time to sit down and dip into Blip.
