I shot a nest of garden spiderlings this morning on field maple affected by a bright red gall on the leaves and was sure I was going to post it but then I saw my first crab spider of the season.
I am interested in spiders but don't think they are gorgeous. ;) In fact this made the skin on scalp creep. It saw me and went into legs outstretched threatening/hunting mode. I have shot them lots of times before and they stick to their territories. I still feel the hairs on my neck bristle when I approach the lair of one I shot last season.
This is on hogweed and I expect it to hang around and gradually change from yellow to white for camouflage. An unsuspecting beetle is approaching it from behind.
