St. Bartholomew's Church, Hognaston, where we had our lunch stop. We noted that the tower was short and squat and, sure enough, the doorway and middle section are Norman, and it's home to Derbyshire's oldest church bell, dating from the 13th century.

I've walked round Carsington Water a lot of times, but I've never crossed the road and walked on the Hognaston side. The pace was a little slow, but that may not have been a bad thing!
