A Different Meal

Today we went into the City of Merida to visit El Gran Museo del Mundo Maya de Merida - the Grand Museum of the Mayan World (https://www.granmuseodelmundomaya.com.mx/). It’s a beautiful museum that celebrates Mayan culture - fascinating. The building is quite enormous and fascinating - see extra.

We followed our visit with a late lunch at nearby Habaneros, a restaurant serving Yucatán cuisine. (See extra.) We ordered a traditional drink of lemonade and Chaya, a green plant similar to spinach. We sampled a few dishes including Papadzules - tacos with mushrooms covered with a pepita (pumpkin seed) cream sauce, guacamole, Sikil Pak, a wonderful pumpkin seed and tomato dip. Finally, fresh made churros (Mexican fritters with cinnamon sugar). The women in the main blip are hand making corn tortillas and salsa to order.

When we got back to Emily’s house we saw a couple of baby dolphins frolicking in the ocean. They were far enough away that the photo is pretty blurry but I am assured that spotting them was good luck! (See extra.)
