Rolled

I thought immediately of cinnamon sticks when I saw the challenge for today. They aren’t exactly tiny but I did use the telephoto to catch the intricate roll of the cinnamon bark. It would be interesting to see how they get it to do that.

This morning’s newspaper revealed that Tuttle’s, the last remaining independent pharmacy in town has closed. I phoned in a refill on Saturday and was planning to pick it up tomorrow. Now it has apparently been sent to Rite-Aid, a chain, but maybe not quite such an obnoxious one as Walgreens or CVS. It will be interesting to track down my prescription before I need it on Thursday.

It’s very sad since the owner, Robert was the third generation to run the family pharmacy and he knew all his customers. I think he was literally squeezed out by the chains which are favored by the insurance companies. We older folk tend to become increasingly dependent on a pharmacy for a growing list of drugs, and Robert really looked after us. He was the only pharmacy in town that stayed open after the Tubbs fire and he worked tirelessly for days to help people who ran for their lives from the flames and found themselves in need of their prescriptions. What next?

We are looking forward to a visit this afternoon from Blipper EvelynNC and her husband. We decided to have dinner here rather than brave a noisy restaurant. The day of the intimate, quiet restaurant seems to have passed. It’s probably an unsustainable business model in these post-Covid times. I even baked an apple cake.
