Mobile Orchard...

...in Paternoster Square, next to St Paul's Cathedral, today. It's part of the City of London Festival, and will be the site of music, street theatre, dance and poetry (but not this early in the morning). For the last 3 years, the themes of the festival have been bees, birds and flowers - this year it is trees. The small trees you can see in pots are fruit trees. After the festival, some will be planted on a housing estate in London and other will go to schools.

I'm going to a concert in the Cathedral this evening. It's Britten's War Requiem. It's 100 years since Britten was born so there's lots of his music this year. In a spirit of unity, the soloists are English, German and Russian. It is a piece I love, but even if I didn't love it, it would be worth going just to sit under the magnificent dome and be enveloped in music :-))
