Brancaster beach on a rainy day

Today has not been the best day. We left home at around 6.30am to drive to Norfolk, we get on to the M25 motorway at J9 and at J8 there had been a serious accident and the closed 3 lanes of the motorway so we sat for over 2 hours! We did not curse or complain as we realised it was a serious accident, and someone today has lost someone they love, whereas we only lost some time. When we finally drove past there were so many police at the scene of the accident, and there was only one damaged car which looked completely wrecked with it's wheel off and lying about 400m down the motorway, so I don't know if another car was involved and it had already been removed, although I am not sure as the police photographer was still photographing the scene of the accident.

As a consequence of our delay we got to Norfolk much later than expected, and we had just got out the car and opened the front door to enter, when the Waitrose delivery truck pulled up with our grocery order, such close timing!

The weather was awful, as we knew it would be. In fact when I saw the poor weather forecast for the weekend we were going to cancel our plans to come to Norfolk, but Inca and her family are also in Norfolk this weekend and we had plans to meet up.

We took Xena to the beach for a walk, but it was raining quite hard and we all got soaked. Xena loves the beach but she dislikes rain even more, so she was quite happy to go back to the car again after the walk. This was taken on the beach in the rain, it looked bleak and there were only a few hardy dog walkers out on the beach.

It has been a lazy afternoon, Gavin worked while I edited some photos and pottered around.

It's definitely a Netflix and fire kind of evening, I want to start watching One Day (which I read decades ago). I think the weather is better tomorrow, it had better be brighter as we have plans...
