Countless ways you pass the days

If my calculations are correct, this bough started growing in 1986, a year before the Great Storm wrecked southern England, but in 2024 Storm Jocelyn saw off its parent tree.  The early 2000s seemed to be a particularly good decade for growth.  I'm tempted not to cut this piece up at all, but rather to level the ends and keep it as the chopping block for other pieces.

I did very little today except read, which I did a lot of and enjoyed very much.
