One of a pair of great spotted woodpeckers

AsI've remarked for some months, we definitely have a pair of great spotted woodpeckers, but I only occasionally see them together. Today was such a day, but by the time I had a camera ready there was just the one

Here is is on a regular vantage point of many birds weighing up when to do the final descent onto the sunflower feeder. The rain doesn't seem to put them off, in fact it might encourage them as other food might be harder to find. Today the rain was intermittent but the plumage seemed quite damp
