A Day In The Life

Believe It (or not)

We drove over to the Redemption Place which is on the other side of the river to turn in glass and plastic bottles, plus cans, saved up over the winter. Almost $11 worth. It’s more of a shack really, barely standing, but still functional. Truthfully it hasn’t changed in the 23 years we’ve been going there, I really should blip it for Derelict Sunday. The current owner’s nickname is Bugsy and we always chat it up when there. Today the topic was Bald Eagles • We couldn’t believe our eyes when we pulled in to the parking area. There, on a long strip of ice in the middle of the river, stood 12 juvenile eagles! Overhead circled another 11, at least! Bugsy said the eagles have been around all week because of an abundance of smelt (a fish), and the lack of ice. The perfect combination for hungry predators. Plus, breeding season begins late winter • This juvenile was taken near the boat landing on our side of the river • Peace & Love
