A time for everything

A day of culture

Friday
This morning we drove downtown to visit the Claude Monet Immersive experience - we had tickets for 11:am. I love Monet’s work, so I am always glad of an opportunity to see his work in whatever form. The exhibition begins with posters about his life and work, then you progress into a reconstruction of his atelier in Giverny. This is followed by a representation of the famous bridge in his Giverny gardens, bedecked with wisteria. Finally, you move into the digital reconstruction of his works on four walls, with projection onto the ground also. Some of the scenes are slightly animated, for example with butterflies, birds or falling leaves. In the scenes of Gare St. Lazare, the train is coming towards you. The space has benches and deck chairs scattered around for you to sit and take it in. We sat through it twice, changing locations a couple of times. Whilst not one of the best immersive exhibits we have seen, it was still most enjoyable. On our way back home, we tried out a new (to us) Indian restaurant in Milford for lunch. Years ago we had a favourite Indian restaurant, called Anands, in Evendale. It was quite near where Roger worked at that time, and it was a favorite place for them to go for lunch from time to time. There were always quite a number of Indians eating there -;usually a good sign! We went there over a period of many years, but unfortunately it closed down, and after a while even the building was destroyed - very sad! We had a local one we went to for a few years, not as good, but reasonable, but they haven’t be the same since Covid. So we’re still searching for our new favorite! This one also fitted into the OK category!
Later in the afternoon, Roger went for a neighbourhood bike ride, while I went for a walk to get some steps in.
Then in the evening, we were back downtown, at the Music Hall, watching the ballet Don Quixote, a wonderful lively colourful and fun production, and the dancing was amazing.. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and found it a shame there weren’t more people in the audience!
