Life through the lens...

Bottoms up!

It was the white bottoms which caught our eye, and then counted 10 Roe deer.

Our first visit to Naburn Locks this year.
The fields are beginning to dry out after the floods which have lasted for weeks.
The few caravans were parked on higher ground. Hopefully the main site will be open by Easter.

A nice walk along the riverbank. Not too muddy and just a slight deviation because of water.
Heard a Curlew among the usual bird song.
Merlin App told us a tree creeper and redwing also skylark were singing but I’m afraid we didn’t see them.

Afterwards we had lunch in the cafe by the lock. Located in the old banqueting Hall.
The red pepper, tomato and red lentil soup was delicious, but we hadn’t realised it was a Vegan cafe, and my cheese scone wasn’t quite what I expected although looked good was rather tasteless. Why call them ‘ cheese’ scones when there in no cheese in the mixture!
Just call them what they are, ‘ vegan scones’.
Also we weren’t keen on the ‘milk’ we had in the tea.
It was a querky place. We liked the mix of furniture, decorations and vintage crockery.
Staff were also very nice.
However we won’t be going again.

Collage of some other photos I took today.

Called for compost and farmyard manure ( bagged) on the way home.

Now enjoying a cuppa with proper milk.

We were sorry to learn that Dave Myers from the Hairy Bikers has died.
Have just been watching their last series.
Our thoughts with his family and friends especially Si King his fellow Biker.
