A day in the life

By Shelling

Back then

When I walk to buy food at the nearest shop, I pass this deserted house, long beyond repair. Once it belonged to the miller and his family back in the days when mills were vital for the rural way of living, before you could easily buy the flour you needed in the nearby shop. This house is next to the Dutch mill "The Queen" where you could get high quality flour for baking, not only the normal coarse grind mostly used for feeding the animals.

Having the deserted house and the mill close by me and the shop creates a humbling feeling every time I pass it to buy my milk or some exotic oranges, or even ready made bread.
