Ladies who Tea

(9/3/24)
[YAY! I have caught up with February!]

Having (finally) had my haircut last night, I booked an appointment with Varinia to get my hair coloured this morning. She gave me her first time slot in the morning.

I finished in time to be ready to head out again to meet with our friend Rita and a group of her friends. She invited G & me to join them for Afternoon Tea at the Gevora Hotel. I had seen this advertised, so it was good to check it out today.

There were nearly twenty ladies there. Because we had a large group, the restaurant gave us a space to ourselves. It was more than just a gathering to enjoy time with each other. Rita asked G to spend 10 minutes giving her testimony. Other ladies shared as well.

We had to leave early as we had our second Candlelight concert to get to. This one is in Zabeel Park, so we had to get home to park the car and walk across to the park. Our failed reccy on Monday was even more regretful. We discovered we needed to be on the other side of the highway. Taking a taxi wasn't an option as the place was heaving. We found out later why.

We walked as fast as we could and found the elusive auditorium. The concert, featuring the music of Hans Zimmer, had already started, but we didn't miss too much. By the time we got there, the talented String Quartet were playing the Disney section. The music from The Lion King brought back a lot of memories.

Once we found the place, I have to say it was lovely, but the loudspeakers spread out through the site couldn't drown out the noise of the traffic whizzing past on the highway. To add to the noise, the wind carried over the sound from a South Indian concert taking place on our side of the park.

We had a leisurely walk home, enjoying the weather, the park, the huge concert and the people enjoying being there. It's been a great day. :))
