WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

My Babies!

They were my babies when I was 5 or 6. My mum bought them in Woolworths in Ellesmere Port in 1960. The big one for my Christmas and the smaller one probably for my birthday. I always wanted dolls and I looked after them like real babies.
Well, as you know I’ve been on a decluttering journey for a long time  and bit by bit things are being passed on.
However the grandchildren aren’t interested in Grandma’s old stuff - who can blame them?
I joined a group on Facebook a while ago called Toys, Bears and Doll Repairs UK. So I thought I’d see if anyone wants them for free.
I got a few replies but one lady really wants them and she said she would fix the wonky eye and the ‘amputated arm’ and she would look after them well. I will pack them up and send them to her one Monday. I couldn’t bear the thought of them ending up in landfill. I’m such a softie ;-D.
Another man posted a photo of his sister’s two dolls one of which is the exact same as my big doll. Facebook is good for some things!
It has been perishing cold today, I only took Bella for a short walk this morning as the wind was biting my face.
Frank is full of cough and cold, it’s good that it’s out of the way before the show.
I’ve had a lazy day really, practising choir words by the fire and then we went to Hellifield Social Club for a pint - well a half for me. We’ve been going there since the pub closed, it’s not as cosy as The Black Horse but the drinks are cheaper. There are folk of our age but also lots of young families there with babies and toddlers and young folk playing darts or snooker. We quite like it there and chatted to a few of our neighbours with their young’uns. Children always raise the spirits! They’re learning to socialise with old and young from being babies.
Tonight we’re watching Blue Grass on Youtube.

Goodnight Blippers, hope you’re enjoying the weekend.
