Concentration

In the morning we went for a walk around Aldie Burn, and then in the evening with N and A to Embo for a Sutherland Sessions concert at Embo Old Schoolhouse featuring Ryan Young, with accompanying guitarist Gillie O'Flaherty. They are both consummate musicians, and while we couldn't see too much from where we were sitting it didn't really matter as the music was all consuming. I loved it. We drove back with quite a buzz.

During the course of the evening, my swimming pals were sending pictures of the home baking they'd been preparing for Sunday's outing. I hadn't so much as picked up some Tunnocks wafers from the supermarket... The ladies of Embo came to my rescue. During the interval, there was tea/coffee and excellent home baking in return for a donation, so in return for a sizeable donation I got a couple of bags of rocky road and some millionaire's shortbread. It was a win/win outcome as far as I was concerned.

The picture of Ryan and Gillie is taken on a very high ISO and so is quite noisy. And there is a stupid microphone stand in the way, but I didn't want to wander around trying to find an angle where it didn't intrude. So please ignore the microphone stand and concentrate on the vibe between the two musicians. To my mind, the photograph (entirely accidentally) beautifully captures the strong vibe between the players, which you didn't need to see, but you could definitely feel in your bones.

As we came out of the concert, you could hear waves crashing. Most atmospheric. That and the lashing wind and rain.
