All good things

It actually happened on Wednesday but I didn't hear about it until today, so although I could have blipped snippets of Mirabel's new green handlebars or bits of cycle path that still haven't been cleaned a month after I reported them, it's time for a little tribute to Marcello Gandini, stylist of Bertone, and the man who penned such machines as the Lancia Stratos, the Fiat X1/9, the Lamborghini Miura, the beautiful Espada – the one I would buy – and this, the completely barking Lamborghini Countach.

It was an angularly restrained design in its original, pure form which I prefer, but everyone of a certain age will think of it in its none-more-80s flared wheelarched, air dammed, gigantically bespoilered guise we see here, with Valentino Balboni having test driven it to the very ends of an unfinished mountain pass in the terra dei LEGO.

Careful, Signor, you'll scrape the suspension, parking like that!
