I did my best to exaggerate the faults of a poor-quality phone photo.

Choir concert this evening -- not our full programme, but we had been invited to do the second half of a two-choir concert at the end of Narbonne's Semaine des Choeurs, a week of concerts featuring different amateur choirs, held in the Salle des Synodes, a very grand chamber in the town hall (formerly the Bishop's palace).

There was a lot of hanging around as we had to be there for 5 pm in order to organise our placement, rehearse, and then leave the space free for the other choir to do the same. They sang some extracts from Romeo and Juliette, an opera by Gounod, and after a quick changeover we sang Hör mein Bitten and Schicksalslied. I didn't feel we had rehearsed the pieces adequately, but actually it was surprisingly OK, with Florence urging us on with dramatic gestures and expressions. And our soloist Myriam definitely ups the quality with her superb voice. We seem quite happy at the end (blip). And we have another weekend to practise before the real concerts.

It was all done and dusted by 9:15, so we were home before bedtime (S had reluctantly agreed to come to the concert and reckons this releases him from coming to any of the others!).
