A view from Jeanneb

A day of two ponds

The day started very wet, had we walked at the usual time we would have been wet too. Being the Easter break we set out at 8.00 am instead of 7.15 am and by then the rain had virtually stopped. It’s a shame it doesn’t stop long enough to give the ground a chance to dry out, it’s still a quagmire, but by the time we reached Coppice Pond the sun was emerging.

The usual group of outcast juvenile swans can be seen in the extra as far away from the island as the male swan can chase them. The two Canada Geese just arriving to join them were being chased as we arrived, you can see his lordship in the background! It is reported that the pen(s?)  are on the island presumably nesting.

After my breakfast and shower I went with Chris to the supermarket calling in at East Riddlesden Hall on the way. There were lots of ‘bunnies’ doing egg hunts in the grounds and I liked the reflection of the derelict wall of the hall and the sky in the pond. I only wanted something from the shop but we stayed for a coffee.

Chris has just gone up to church to erect the Cross for tomorrow, Good Friday. Of course it’s raining again now.
The Easter weekend is upon us.
Enjoy yours
