Mud ,mud , glorious mud....

Well, yesterday's glorious sunshine didn't last long. It's back to drizzle then proper rain all day today.
Went to feed the outside cows only to discover an old Belgian Blue with a set of twins. One dead, one living. So hauled the live one over the seat on the quad and started doing my best calf impressions . She followed me half way home then buggered off across the field again so had to go home and nab Kev to help bring her in.
Of course her bag was about trailing on the ground and the calf hadn't sucked so had to milk her out and feed the calf with the stomach tube as it was too stupid to suck a teat.
By the time I had all that done it was after 10 am,so half the morning wasted.
Left Kev on mucking out and bedding cows while I went next door for a loader bucket load of turnips from the pile there to feed the sheep here.
Emptied the rain guage tonight. So since the start of last week we've had just about 100mm,or 4" in old money. I think the seed barley will be in the shed for a while yet. And it's still raining tonight. Just love spring......
